About Clermont Solar Farm

Clermont Solar Farm is a single-axis tracking project, located the town of Clermont, 106km north of Emerald, Queensland. The site has an installed capacity of approx. 89-megawatt peak (MWp) DC and spans across an area of approximately 497 acres.

Owned by Gentari Solar Australia (formerly, WIRSOL Energy), Australia’s largest integrated renewable energy developer*, Clermont is the third large-scale solar operation in their portfolio based in the state of Queensland. Gentari Solar Australia is working hard to realise renewable energy systems of all sizes, using extensive experience gathered from building more than 800MWp of renewable energy projects internationally.

Clermont Solar Farm is financed by the CEFC (Clean Energy Finance Corporation) and recently entered into it’s commissioning phase in June 2019, following an impressive 9-month construction programme. Fully operational, the solar farm produces enough energy to power approx. 31,000 homes in the region, whilst preventing the emission of approx. 107,000 tonnes of C02.

Community

Community engagement is important to us at Gentari Solar Australia and to the successful development and construction of Clermont Solar Farm.

Throughout the construction phase there were scheduled events for members of the local community to engage with our team. Whilst sharing an understanding of the project’s benefits and construction updates during these sessions, there was also the opportunity to visit the solar project, share feedback and receive support surrounding the impact of the project.

Clermont Solar Farm is committed to supporting the local community and proudly holds sponsorships with the following organisations:

  • Clermont Bears Senior Rugby League Club

  • Clermont Bushpigs Senior Rugby Union Club

  • Clermont Golf Club

As owners of the Clermont Solar Farm, we worked with Wangan and Jagalingou Traditional Owners in the project’s development. In addition to employment opportunities, educational scholarships and contributions to cultural and ecotourism projects have been designed to leave a lasting, positive legacy.
